Indigenous Mindfulness Coalition Annual Retreat

Each year, the Indigenous Mindfulness Coalition brings together relatives, leaders, and practitioners from across Turtle Island to gather in community. These moments remind us that healing is not meant to happen alone—it is rooted in connection, shared experience, and collective care. Our retreat is a space where relationships are strengthened, knowledge is exchanged, and culture is lived together. Community is not just part of our work—it is the foundation of everything we do. Previous retreats have been held at Santa Fe, Los Angeles, and Noepe (Martha’s Vinyard). The IMC retreat is generously funded by the BESS Foundation

Honoring Culture Through Collective Practice

Community

Our retreat brings together community members from across Turtle Island, creating a space rooted in relationship, culture, and shared purpose. In gathering like this, we remember that wellness is something we build together, through presence, story, and care for one another. These moments reflect the strength and beauty of coming together across communities and generations. At the heart of it all is community—guiding our work, sustaining our connections, and shaping the path forward

Expert Facilitation Indigenous Mindfulness

Indigenous Mindfulness is rooted in the understanding that presence is not separate from culture—it is carried through it. We bring forward language, song, movement, art, and story as pathways into mindful awareness, allowing practice to emerge from Indigenous ways of knowing rather than being imposed upon them. At the heart of this work is the gathering of community leaders and practitioners—experts in their own communities—who share how these practices are lived, adapted, and sustained in their local contexts, offering inspiration and practical ideas to bring back home. In this space, mindfulness becomes a living relationship to land, culture, and community, practiced with intention, without judgment, and grounded fully in the present moment
